October Movies 2019
Movies seen in theater: 2 Total
Busy month. I did watch many movies, just not in theater.
1) Joker (10/4/2019)
I have very complicated feelings about this movie. If you know me, you know I am a huge Batman fan. I did go into this movie knowing that it wasn't your traditional Batman movie or even really part of the regular DC universe. I had two interpretations of what happened in this movie. First I think none of it really happened, that this is just a story Arthur made up while living in the asylum. On the other hand it is possible that all of the events did transpire and it ending with him in the asylum was just meant to create more doubt. I get the story and I get what it was trying to do, but I don't know if I like it. I am not really in favor of justifying murder and chaos because a "nice guy" had a tough time. I am not sure this movie is good for the forward progress of mental illness either as it just gives a lot of background that is questionable. Anyway, I guess I will just say that I liked this movie. I will likely have to watch it again to see if I can better track what is happening, what is real, and what are the ravings of a lunatic. I give this movie a 7 out of 10 with the reservation that I might like it more or less upon re-watching.
2) The Addams Family (10/12/2019)
I am huge Addams Family fan. I loved all the live action movies. I find them to be the ideal family. They always love each other and embrace all that is weird and unique in each other and everyone they meet. This movie while not really exploring anything new, is really cute. A great movie for the whole family that puts a small twist on what is normal and what traditions really matter. I would of course recommend this movie to anyone of any age. I think overall though I can only give it a 6 out 10 because its predecessors where so good.
Next month I have some fun movies to look forward to and probably tomorrow or the next day I'll post the results of my scary movie challenge. Hope you all had a great October and remember to stay safe this holiday season.
All my love,
